Burial & Interment Services
The District provides burial and interment services to eligible residents within the District.
Services include:
- Traditional ground burials
- Cremation interments
- Grave plot sales (subject to availability)
- Opening and closing services
- Record and burial location assistance

Fee Schedule
Effective May 1, 2024
The following fees and charges became effective at 8:00 am on May 1, 2024.
Adult Graves/Interments

Cremation Graves/Interments

Marker Settings
2 sizes recommended.
| 12 x 24 Headstone | $300.00 |
| 14 x 30 Headstone | $300.00 |
| Saturday Service Surcharge | $800.00 |
Saturday graveside funerals must begin no later than 10:30 am and end no later than 12:00 pm. All Saturday services will be subject to the surcharge.
Open and Closing of Graves
Opening and closing of graves will be performed by District-approved outside contractor who shall set his/her rates. A District-approved vault or liner shall be used in every interment. Caskets will be lowered and graves closed once families have left the cemetery.
Burial Records & Genealogical Information
The Santa Margarita Cemetery contains 1,740 plots across three sections.
The Santa Margarita Historical Society and the San Luis Obispo Genealogical Society have completed a census of the cemetery.
